About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and dedicated English Specialist Teacher to join our team at Phoenix Learning & Care Group. As a SEND Teacher - English Educator, you will play a vital role in ensuring that neurodiverse young adults have access to meaningful education and achieve their full potential.

Key Responsibilities
  • Design and deliver English classes for learners working at pre-entry and level 2, focusing on functional English skills.
  • Work closely with the wider teaching team to embed functional English into every learner's bespoke curriculum.
  • Lead classroom activities, including planning, teaching, and assessing learning, and monitor and record progress.
  • Provide inspirational learning opportunities to learners, whether in the classroom or out in the community, and work closely with Learning Support Assistants to direct them to effectively support the learners.
  • Be adaptable in your teaching style, recognizing that learners may have different needs and goals, and be committed to seeking to understand each young person and their needs.
Requirements
  • Patience, compassion, and resilience, as you will be working with neurodiverse learners who may have impacted learning behavior and communication needs.
  • Great communication skills, as you will be speaking to a lot of different people at different times, including learners, parents, and other stakeholders.
  • Ability to be involved in EHCPs and shape a curriculum based on individual target outcomes.
  • Flexibility and adaptability, as not all days will go to plan, and you will need to be comfortable dealing with change.
  • A genuine interest in a career focused on the education of people with a wide range of needs.

  • Holidays - you will work 42.4 weeks of the year during term time, but you will be paid annual leave to cover the remaining 9.6 weeks.
