Phoenix Learning & Care Group is seeking a dedicated and compassionate English Specialist Teacher to join our team. As a SEND Teacher - English Educator, you will play a vital role in ensuring that neurodiverse young adults have access to meaningful education.
Key Responsibilities- Design and deliver English classes for learners working at pre-entry and level 2, focusing on functional English skills.
- Work closely with the wider teaching team to embed functional English in every learner's bespoke curriculum.
- Lead classroom activities, including planning, teaching, and assessing learning, across a range of classes with students with differing mathematical abilities.
- Monitor and record progress, both academically and against EHCP outcomes.
- Provide inspirational learning opportunities to learners, whether in the classroom or out in the community, and work closely with Learning Support Assistants to direct them to effectively support the learners.
- Be adaptable in your teaching style, recognizing that some learners may focus on becoming more independent, while others aim to secure employment.
- Recognize when a learner's progress is at risk and identify areas for improvement, demonstrating a commitment to seeking to understand each young person and their needs.
- Patience, compassion, and resilience, as all learners will be neurodiverse, which may impact their learning behavior and communication needs.
- Great communication skills, as you will be speaking to a lot of different people at different times, whether it be learners, parents, or other stakeholders.
- Ability to be involved in EHCPs and shape a curriculum based on the individual target outcomes of your learners.
- Flexibility and adaptability, as not all days will go to plan, and you will need to be comfortable dealing with change.
- A genuine interest in a career focused on the education of people with a wide range of needs.
- Holidays - You will work 42.4 weeks of the year during term time, but you will be paid annual leave to cover the remaining 9.6 weeks.
- Pension scheme - Our pension scheme is based on you paying in 5%, and us adding 3%.
