Strategic Governance Opportunity at the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine

The London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine is seeking an independent member to join its Council, a governing body responsible for the strategic direction of the institution. As a Council member, you will play a crucial role in shaping the future of the school and contributing to its mission of improving health and health equity worldwide.

Key Responsibilities
  • Participate in Council meetings and contribute to strategic decision-making
  • Provide expertise and guidance on governance, leadership, and organizational development
  • Support the school's mission and objectives, including its commitment to equality, diversity, and inclusion
Requirements
  • Proven leadership skills and experience in governance, leadership, or a related field
  • Strong understanding of the higher education sector and its challenges
  • Ability to work collaboratively with other Council members, staff, and students
  • Commitment to the school's mission and values
Term of Office and Time Commitment

The term of office is three years, with the possibility of re-appointment for a further three years. Council members are expected to commit time to prepare for and attend meetings, which typically take place four times a year.

Remuneration

This is a non-remunerated role, but Council members are entitled to reclaim expenses incurred in the course of school business.
