Job Summary:

The Medical Research Council is seeking a skilled Science Communications Officer to join our team. As a key member of our Communications team, you will be responsible for creating and disseminating news about our scientific research to the public, media, and other stakeholders.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement a communications strategy to promote our research and engage with the public.
  • Write and edit news articles, press releases, and other content to showcase our research and achievements.
  • Manage our social media presence and create engaging content to reach a wider audience.
  • Collaborate with our research teams to understand their work and develop compelling stories to share with the public.
  • Support the development of our website and other digital platforms to showcase our research and achievements.

Requirements:

  • Experience in science communications, public engagement, or a related field.
  • Strong writing and editing skills, with the ability to communicate complex scientific concepts to a broad audience.
  • Experience with social media management and content creation.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team, with a strong attention to detail and ability to meet deadlines.
  • Good understanding of the scientific research environment and the ability to communicate effectively with researchers and other stakeholders.
