Key Responsibilities of the Health and Safety Advisor:

  • Assist the Occupational Health and Safety Manager in delivering specialized advisory services across the organization.
  • Provide expert guidance on safe working practices and procedures.
  • Support management in the formulation and evaluation of risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.
  • Advise on substances regulated by COSHH, including assistance with COSHH assessments and maintaining assessment records.
  • Conduct site inspections and audits, engaging with management as necessary.
  • Offer recommendations regarding display screen equipment and provide professional advice on DSE assessments.
  • Ensure compliance with the organization's Health and Safety policy to prevent injuries and maintain safety for employees and the public. Report any breaches promptly.
  • Make informed on-site decisions related to occupational health and safety, guiding managers on safety policies and procedures. Collaborate with the Occupational Health and Safety Manager and insurance team in investigating claims related to incidents.
  • Assist in monitoring health surveillance to promote a healthy workplace for all employees.
  • Support managers in investigating accidents and incidents, implementing effective control measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Promote a positive health and safety culture throughout the organization through effective communication and awareness initiatives.
  • Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations within your designated departments, contributing to the development of organization-wide policies and procedures.
  • Assist in Health and Safety training compliance through in-person training at all levels, contributing to the creation of training materials aligned with current legislation.
  • Ensure adherence to relevant policies, procedures, and codes of conduct, particularly concerning Health and Safety regulations and equal opportunities.
  • Build and maintain effective professional relationships with individuals and teams, supporting them in achieving their objectives and enhancing performance.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Valid full driving license and access to a vehicle
  • A proven track record in addressing Occupational Health and Safety issues within a professional setting, providing exceptional guidance and support.
  • Experience in developing and implementing Health and Safety training programs for management and staff.
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a Health & Safety professional.
  • Experience in conducting investigations into accidents, incidents, and near misses, implementing effective measures to prevent recurrence.
  • Extensive knowledge of Health & Safety legislation
  • Aptitude for delivering impactful Health & Safety training courses on various topics.
  • Proficient in conducting investigations, audits, and inspections, producing detailed reports on findings.
  • Level 3 Qualification in Health & Safety (e.g., NEBOSH General Certificate)
  • Professional membership, such as membership in the Institution of Occupational Safety & Health (IOSH) – Technical Member (TechIOSH) or higher

  • Annual pay scale increase
