Join Us in Serving Scotland's Water Needs.
About Us
At Scottish Water, we are dedicated to safeguarding Scotland's essential natural resource. Our mission encompasses ensuring the delivery of clean, safe water while being environmentally responsible.
We are currently seeking a dedicated Networks Maintenance Specialist to become a vital part of our Field Response team. This role is based in the Fort William area and offers a full-time permanent contract.
Your Responsibilities
Your primary focus will be on executing repairs and maintenance tasks across our water and wastewater network infrastructure. This includes conducting thorough checks on equipment, vehicles, and associated plant machinery. Adhering to health and safety regulations is paramount, and you will strive to minimize service disruptions.
Accurate documentation is crucial; therefore, you will engage with reporting systems to track performance and productivity metrics. As a collaborative team member, you will also participate in the standby rota for after-hours emergencies.
Your Qualifications
While you will often work independently, self-motivation is key, alongside a strong desire to contribute to team objectives. Basic IT proficiency is essential, as you will utilize digital tools and applications throughout your workday. Additionally, you should possess effective report writing skills to communicate information clearly and concisely.
A valid, clean driving license is necessary, as travel to various sites within the Fort William region will be required.
Preferred Skills
Experience with heavy goods vehicles and excavators is advantageous, as is familiarity with cable avoidance tools. Understanding health and safety protocols for site operations or possessing basic ground maintenance skills would be beneficial. While not mandatory, holding a CPCS or NRSWA qualification would be a plus.
Employee Well-being
We recognize the importance of work-life balance. This position includes some weekend work and standby duties, but you will enjoy ample time off with 38 days of annual leave (inclusive of public holidays). Additional leave can be purchased if desired, and opportunities for community volunteering are available.
Our family-friendly policies support significant life events, including adoption and parental leave. We also promote flexible working arrangements.
For your future, we offer a pension plan and life assurance. You can also look forward to an annual company bonus and access to SW Splash, which provides discounts on various expenses.
Additional Information
Participation in an out-of-hours standby rota is required for this role.
This position is classified as Grade 4, with a starting salary and performance-based pay progression.
If you are interested in this opportunity, we encourage you to consider applying, even if you do not meet every single requirement. We value diverse experiences and are committed to supporting all candidates throughout the recruitment process.
As part of our commitment to fostering a thriving Scotland, it is essential that all employees are Scottish taxpayers. If you are not currently residing in Scotland, you will need to relocate within a specified timeframe.
Lastly, please note that records of candidates who have not applied in the past year will be removed from our recruitment database.
