Position: Senior Analyst (School Places Planning)

Location: Hybrid (40% office-based)

Overview:

We are looking for a dedicated, skilled, and motivated individual to become a part of the Performance and Analysis Service (PAS) at Sheffield City Council.

Key Responsibilities:

The primary focus of this role is to spearhead forecasting and analytical processes to ensure adequate school placements in Sheffield. You will collaborate with the Education Commissioning Team to provide essential data that supports their strategic initiatives. Additionally, you will be responsible for submitting data for the annual statutory School Capacity (SCAP) return to the Department for Education.

Collaboration with various support services within the Early Years, Education, and Skills directorate, including the School Admissions Team, will also be part of your responsibilities.

This role presents an exciting opportunity to positively influence the educational landscape for children in Sheffield. It demands a high level of analytical expertise and the ability to convey complex information effectively to diverse audiences. You may also oversee the work of an Analyst within the team.

Team Collaboration:

PAS works in close partnership with various service teams in children's services, ICT, and corporate teams, as well as external organizations such as schools and health services. As a Senior Analyst in PAS, you will be part of a knowledgeable and supportive team committed to delivering high-quality data and analytical services to our stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • A passion for enhancing outcomes for children in the community;
  • Strong communication skills and a collaborative spirit;
  • Proficient IT and analytical capabilities, including understanding data flow in databases and generating automated reports;
  • Ability to translate client needs into effective reporting tools;
  • Basic knowledge of data benefits and limitations, along with statistical analysis;
  • Skill in analyzing, interpreting, and presenting data;
  • Creative problem-solving abilities;
  • Capacity to work independently;
  • Experience with children's services data is advantageous but not mandatory.
