Widener University is in search of a dedicated Financial Services Support Specialist to join the Office of the Bursar/Enrollment Services. Reporting directly to the Associate Bursar, this position plays a crucial role in assisting all university students and staff with transactions related to Financial Aid, Bursar, Registrar, and One Card services. The Financial Services Support Specialist will also address a diverse range of inquiries from prospective and current students, staff, faculty, and visitors. This is a full-time, in-person position.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (including, but not limited to):

Core Responsibilities:

Deliver exceptional customer service to all stakeholders, including prospective and current students, their families, and campus partners, through in-person, telephone, and virtual interactions. (Note: This role requires 100% in-person presence.) Upon request, evaluate students' financial aid, manage class add/drop processes for the Registrar, facilitate modifications to meal plans, issue student employment contracts, and provide additional services to enhance student convenience. Process cash and check payments from students and/or departments in person. Guide students, staff, and special program participants on financial status processes, procedures, and requirements; offer advice on alternative options and their implications. Initiate, review, and update student accounts for financial evaluations and payment transactions. Manage miscellaneous charges applied to student accounts. Prepare and reconcile daily cash receipts for the head cashier.

Additional Responsibilities:

Enter course schedules into the system as required. Distribute student employment contracts. Receive, process, and distribute all relevant Enrollment Management forms. Educate students on web-based transactions, resolve holds on student records, and perform other assigned duties.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS (education/training and experience required):

Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent. Previous customer service experience in an office setting is preferred. Proven excellent communication and organizational abilities. Strong attention to detail is essential. Experience in exercising diplomacy, tact, and confidentiality when interacting with students and faculty. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.). Familiarity with web-based software, email, and internet usage. Must be organized, adaptable, and capable of managing multiple tasks simultaneously. Outstanding interpersonal skills and exceptional oral and written communication capabilities. Demonstrated ability to effectively engage with students, staff, faculty, and external stakeholders.

Preferred:

Experience with Ellucian/Colleague software. Customer service experience in higher education, particularly in financial services. Background in a front-line service role.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND/OR UNUSUAL HOURS:

Ability to work at a computer for extended periods.
