Overview
INTERNAL APPLICANTS ONLY PLEASE
The role of a Visitor Experience Officer revolves around engaging with individuals, motivating them, and ensuring they enjoy their visit to the fullest. If you have a passion for connecting with diverse audiences and are inspired by the mission to preserve and nurture places where both people and nature can flourish, this position may be ideal for you.
This role is structured for 30 hours weekly (4 full days).
Responsibilities will include management duties and working one weekend out of four, as well as some bank holidays.
This is a fixed-term position, concluding when the current employee returns from their secondment.
Work Environment
Snowshill is an extraordinary location: a departure from the mundane and the unconventional residence of the unique Charles Wade. An architect and artist, Wade's lifelong passion for collecting began at a young age. His home at Snowshill is filled with an eclectic array of treasures, reflecting his vibrant personality and zest for life.
The Manor is set within a beautifully designed Arts and Crafts garden, featuring a series of terraced garden rooms and even a model village, Wolf's Cove. Access to this remarkable property requires personal transportation, offering you the opportunity to work in a stunning countryside environment.
Key Responsibilities
As a Visitor Experience Officer, your primary responsibility will be to deliver exceptional service to visitors. Collaborating with your team, you will welcome guests and inspire them to explore Snowshill Manor and Garden. This may involve planning and executing events and activities, as well as creating interpretive displays that bring the site's stories to life. You will encourage visitors to engage with the artworks and valuable objects preserved by the Trust.
Your role may also include supervising and assisting volunteers, organizing schedules, and ensuring high standards of presentation on-site, as well as contributing to our web content.
You will participate in the duty management rota, working one weekend in four throughout the season.
Candidate Profile
We invite applications from individuals who:
- Are adept at managing multiple deadlines and their own workload
- Possess strong organizational and planning skills, with keen attention to detail
- Excel in communication and building rapport with diverse individuals
- Demonstrate a strong work ethic and commitment to teamwork
- Are proficient with IT tools, including Microsoft Office, web, and social media platforms
- Have experience in creating interpretive materials, such as displays and promotional content
- Are knowledgeable about health and safety protocols
