Controller of Private Equity Investments

PER, a leading Private Equity Recruitment firm, has partnered with a growing, entrepreneurial private equity firm that builds market-leading growth businesses. The incoming hire will be responsible for all aspects of internal operations across the management company, fund platform, compliance regulation, HR, and office facilities.
Job OverviewThe Director of Finance and Portfolio Strategy will be responsible for the development and continuous improvement of automation of operational functions and analysis across the portfolio companies. This role will manage the current operations team and serve as a business partner to the rest of the business and portfolio companies.
Key Responsibilities- Oversee group accounting for all entities and manage cash and treasury across the group.
- Responsible for budgeting and forecasting of all entities.
- Oversight of fund accounting and investor reporting.
- Ensure timely, high-quality, accurate investor reports are produced.
- Manage relationships with all external stakeholders across compliance, tax, fund finance, etc.
- Manage quarterly portfolio company reporting and valuations.
- Oversee valuations and manage annual fund audit.
- Manage investment committee finalization, compliance, and investor drawdowns.
- Manage investment committee process and check consistency and compliance of all submissions.
- Manage process of investor drawdowns.
- Ensure portfolio companies follow processes for accounting, governance, delegated authority, and ensure best practice for finance across the portfolio in conjunction with the portfolio operations team.
- Implement portfolio analytics and monitoring across the portfolio.
- Finalize application for AIFM authorization.
- Ensure appropriate ongoing regulatory compliance.
- Ensure best practice ESG reporting and compliance.
- Manage the IT outsource relationship and ensure all IT is best practice.
- Manage internal HR processes and systems.
- Responsible for all aspects of the office infrastructure and ensure it operates to a high standard.
- Oversight of finance and operations team consisting of two accountants.
- Qualified accountant with previous experience in leading a finance or investment operations team, ideally within the private markets investment industry.
- Previous experience in implementing new systems and processes.
- Familiarity and experience with private equity fund structures and service providers would be beneficial.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to prioritize multiple tasks.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines while under pressure.
- Innovative and entrepreneurial mindset.
- Self-organized and self-motivated with a result-oriented mindset.
- High level of proficiency in MS Office.
