Company Overview:
Brakes, a prominent entity within Sysco, is currently seeking a Junior Financial Accountant to become a vital part of the Controls Finance team on a full-time, permanent basis.

Position Summary:
This role is essential as it directly reports to the Head of Finance Control and is responsible for managing Fixed Asset accounting and Assets under Construction accounting across all Sysco GB operating companies.

Key Responsibilities:
As a Junior Financial Accountant, your duties will include:

  • Maintaining the Fixed Asset Register, including the posting of monthly depreciation charges within the financial system.
  • Conducting quarterly Fixed Asset Verification processes, collaborating with business stakeholders to confirm asset existence and assess their Useful Economic Life.
  • Overseeing Assets under Construction, working with stakeholders to identify completion points for asset recognition and capitalization.
  • Issuing quarterly rental invoices and reconciling rate bills for all Brakes depots.
  • Monitoring property listings for rent reviews and ensuring provisions are established and recharged appropriately.
  • Monthly reconciliation of intercompany recharges with other Sysco GB operating companies.
  • Facilitating quarterly settlements of intercompany trading accounts.
  • Reporting into the Group Consolidation System.
  • Conducting monthly Balance Sheet Reconciliations.
  • Providing support for external and internal audits.
  • Assisting with Annual Statutory Accounts and Corporation Tax.
  • Participating in ad hoc project support within a transformational environment.

Candidate Profile:
The ideal candidate will possess either AAT Level 4 qualification, be part qualified (CIMA, ACCA, or ACA), or hold a Finance/Accounting degree or equivalent. You should be keen to pursue or continue your studies towards CIMA, ACCA, or ACA qualifications through our apprenticeship scheme.
