Job Summary: We are seeking a highly experienced Principal Design Manager to join our team in London. The successful candidate will be responsible for providing high-quality client-facing relationships, internal management, team leadership, and project delivery while maintaining high professional standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Relationship Management: Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring their needs are met and expectations exceeded.
  • Project Management: Lead and manage projects from inception to completion, ensuring timely delivery, quality, and profitability.
  • Team Leadership: Mentor and develop team members, providing guidance and support to ensure project success.
  • Design Management: Oversee the design process, ensuring compliance with company policies and contractual obligations.
  • Business Development: Contribute to business growth through business development activities, identifying new opportunities and partnerships.
  • Commercial Management: Manage project finances, ensuring accurate invoicing, cash flow projections, and profitability.
  • Communication: Chair project meetings, facilitate communication among team members, and ensure effective stakeholder engagement.
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure quality assurance and project performance in line with company policies and contractual obligations.
  • Health and Safety: Ensure compliance with health and safety regulations and best practices.
  • Continuous Improvement: Identify areas for improvement and implement changes to enhance project delivery, team performance, and business growth.

Requirements:

  • Education: BEng in an appropriate engineering discipline.
  • Professional Membership: MCIBSE/MIEE/IMechE Professional Membership.
  • Chartered Status: Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Chartered Project Professional (ChPP) status.
  • Experience: 10+ years' experience at Senior Engineer level or above.
  • Design Management: Proven experience in development and implementation of design management tools and procedures.
  • Team Management: Experience in managing and mentoring teams, ensuring project success.
  • Communication: Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Commercial Awareness: Good understanding of commercial and financial aspects of project delivery.
  • Technical Skills: Proficient in Microsoft Office suite, Microsoft Project, and other relevant software.
