About the Role

Petroplan is seeking a highly skilled Electrical Systems Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our Energy sector team, you will be responsible for providing electrical engineering services on energy projects, including offshore wind farms.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide electrical engineering services on energy projects, including offshore wind farms, with project reports to the Principal Electrical Engineer.
  • Conduct electrical system design and analysis, including sizing calculations of electrical equipment and components.
  • Prepare electrical specifications for materials and simple equipment.
  • Contribute to offshore and onshore integration of renewable energy projects.
  • Check the work of peers, engineers, and graduate engineers prior to transmittal to clients.
  • Submit work for checking by others in the Electrical Engineering Team as assigned by the Principal Engineer.
  • Proficiently use power system simulation and analysis tools, including PSSE, ETAP, and DigSILENT.
  • Coordinate and analyze outputs from power systems in spreadsheets and/or visualization tools.
  • Carry out power system studies, including load flow analysis, short circuit, protection coordination, voltage stability, reactive power, harmonic, and compliance studies.
  • Have a good understanding of power system modeling and analysis, as well as the UK Grid Code and EU Grid Code.
  • Have working knowledge of transmission and distribution networks, from low voltage to extra high voltage.
  • Analyze equipment data, prepare calculations, and single-line drawings.
  • Determine the detailed aspects of an electrical distribution system.
  • Present work to clients regularly in a neat and concise manner.
  • Be conversant with hazardous area concepts, equipment, and area assignment and classification.
  • Proactively resolve design problems with vendors and third parties.
  • Report on a regular basis to the Principal or Project Engineer on work progress, input requirements, work holds, and potential resolutions.
