PhD Researcher: Spatial Data Integration for Breast Cancer Treatment Response

Cambridge, Cambridgeshire, United Kingdom Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute Full time
Project Overview

Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute is seeking a highly motivated PhD researcher to join our team and contribute to a groundbreaking project focused on predicting breast cancer treatment response using multi-modal spatial data integration.

Research Objectives

The successful candidate will be responsible for collating diverse data, placing them in a shared coordinate space, and uncovering critical correlations that underpin treatment effect. This project offers the opportunity to build multi-modal predictive models that will be tested in independent datasets, with the potential to surpass the current state-of-the-art.

Methodology

The researcher will work closely with our team to devise efficient computational tools to parse and integrate multi-modal spatial measurements across assays. This will involve the development of novel algorithms and machine learning techniques to analyze large datasets and identify key drivers of response.

Expected Outcomes

The successful candidate can expect to make significant contributions to the field of cancer research, with the potential to publish high-impact papers and present findings at international conferences. This project offers a unique opportunity to work in a world-leading research institute and contribute to the development of new treatments for breast cancer.

Requirements

We welcome applications from graduates with a strong background in quantitative disciplines such as computer science, mathematics, or biology. Relevant research experience and a keen interest in cancer research are essential. The successful candidate will be expected to work independently and as part of a team, with excellent communication and problem-solving skills.

Funding and Eligibility

This four-year studentship is fully funded by Cancer Research UK Cambridge Institute, including full University fees and a stipend of £21,000 per annum. We welcome applications from both UK and overseas students who hold or expect to gain a First/Upper Second Class degree in a relevant subject.
