The Salvation Army, a prominent faith-based organization in the UK, is seeking a dedicated and skilled Financial Accounts Officer to provide essential support to the Financial Accounting Team at our Territorial Headquarters.
This position plays a crucial role in assisting the Financial Accountants and the Head of Financial Accounting to ensure that accurate information is available in the appropriate systems, facilitating compliance with statutory reporting obligations.
Key Responsibilities:
- Reconcile and oversee accounting entries for bank accounts, petty cash, and balance sheet control accounts across the organization, ensuring precision in accordance with month-end and year-end schedules.
- Conduct banking assessments for individual cost centres and collaborate with regional accounting teams to address any discrepancies that arise during the review process.
- Engage with banking institutions to resolve practical issues such as lost banking documents and outstanding cheques.
- Support the broader finance team in closing month-end accounts efficiently and timely to meet financial deadlines.
The Ideal Candidate Will Possess:
- Proven experience in a similar role within a dynamic finance environment.
- A solid understanding of fundamental accounting principles, particularly double-entry accounting, with demonstrable practical application.
- Extensive experience in managing high-volume bank reconciliation tasks.
- A keen attention to detail, with the ability to work accurately and maintain focus on tasks.
- Strong skills in presenting complex information effectively, both verbally and in writing.
- Intermediate proficiency in Excel, along with general experience using Microsoft Word, Outlook, and Teams to enhance work performance.
