Position Overview

The Ultrasound Specialist role at Barts Health NHS Trust offers a unique opportunity within a leading ultrasound department. The successful candidate will be expected to conduct a variety of diagnostic ultrasound assessments, including but not limited to obstetrics, gynecology, musculoskeletal, abdominal, pediatric, head and neck, and vascular imaging. This position is crucial in delivering exceptional patient care and diagnostic services, operating within a 7-day service framework with extended hours, thereby directly influencing patient outcomes.

Key Responsibilities

The Ultrasound Specialist will:

  • Perform a comprehensive range of diagnostic ultrasound examinations adhering to established quality standards.
  • Follow ultrasound guidelines as set forth by relevant professional bodies.
  • Engage in the management and reporting of ultrasound imaging results.
  • Contribute to ongoing research initiatives, educational programs, and departmental audits.
  • Collaborate effectively with multidisciplinary teams within the broader Imaging department.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities and enhance technical diagnostic skills through the internal education and mentorship programs.

Qualifications and Skills

Essential:

  • Postgraduate qualification in Medical Ultrasound.
  • Current registration with a relevant regulatory body.
  • Up-to-date knowledge of current ultrasound techniques and professional issues.
  • Ability to perform and report on a full range of ultrasound examinations.
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development.

Desirable:

  • Experience in vascular and musculoskeletal ultrasound.
  • Postgraduate teaching experience.
