Main Responsibilities

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Careers Consultant to join our dynamic Careers and Employability team at GBS Global Applied Knowledge. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for delivering exceptional careers support and guidance to our students, helping them to achieve their full potential and succeed in their chosen careers.

Your primary focus will be on establishing and maintaining relationships with employers, industry professionals, and professional bodies to ensure that our students have access to the latest labour market information and opportunities. You will also be responsible for designing and delivering engaging workshops, events, and one-to-one appointments to support students in developing their employability skills and career aspirations.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Acting as the lead contact for Careers and Employability at the designated campus
  • Establishing and maintaining relationships with employers, industry professionals, and professional bodies
  • Delivering online and face-to-face workshops to groups of students and through one-to-one appointments
  • Managing and delivering bespoke careers programmes, such as the GBS Mentoring Scheme and Employability Award
  • Creating and developing a range of printed and online guides on industry sectors and employability skills
  • Supporting the Careers and Employability Placement Officers to deliver pre-placement preparation workshops
  • Assisting employers in promoting job opportunities to our students through our online platform and careers newsletter
  • Working in partnership with other Careers Consultants to deliver a national service and collaborate on career-related workshops and events
  • Contributing to the development of careers education sessions and workshops within the curriculum
  • Marketing the careers service to local businesses and industry, as well as non-profit organisations and SMEs

We are looking for a highly motivated and experienced individual who is passionate about delivering exceptional careers support and guidance to our students. If you have a strong background in careers guidance, education, or a related field, and are committed to helping our students succeed, we would love to hear from you.

Requirements

To be successful in this role, you will need to have:

  • A recognised professional qualification at degree or higher degree level in a relevant discipline
  • Previous experience of working within a HE or Careers Service setting
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and experience in developing and maintaining stakeholder relationships
  • Ability to think strategically and communicate that thinking effectively
  • An understanding of challenges faced by adult learners and returners to education
  • Experience of delivering one-to-one appointments, workshop design and delivery to large and small groups
  • Effective networking and negotiating skills
  • A commitment to keeping informed of current labour market trends, particularly recruitment practices used in the business and healthcare sectors
  • Experience of client relationship management and working with employers and professional bodies
  • Intermediate IT skills and ability to adapt quickly to new technology
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
