An exciting opportunity has arisen on Ward 6 at the Northumbria Specialist Emergency Care Hospital. We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Band 6 Sister/Charge Nurse to join our dynamic nursing team.

The successful candidate will be responsible for coordinating the ward and supporting the Ward Manager in delivering high-quality patient care. As a key member of the multidisciplinary team, you will be expected to work collaboratively with colleagues to ensure safe and timely patient discharges or transfers to appropriate care settings.

You will be responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care, as well as exercising accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct. The successful post holder must be able to role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the Trust.

Main Duties of the Job

The main purpose of the role is to assist, plan, and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the multidisciplinary team under the supervision of the ward manager. You will also be responsible for the organizing and coordination of the nursing services in the absence of the ward manager, lead a team of nurses, and be innovative.

Job Responsibilities
  1. To assess, plan, implement and evaluate nursing care working as a member of the ward team under the direction of the ward manager.
  2. To be responsible for the organizing and coordination of nursing services in the ward department in the absence of the ward manager.
  3. To exercise accountability as set out in the NMC Code of Professional Conduct.
  4. To be responsible for all nursing care standards and to maintain high clinical standards.
  5. To role model compassionate and inclusive leadership in order to shape the creation of a collective leadership culture within the trust.
Person SpecificationQualifications
  • 1st Level live NMC Registered Nurse
  • PP126/127
  • D32/33 or equivalent
  • Qualification in Specialty
  • Evidence of qualification to undertake the supervision, teaching, and assessing of students (essential requirement for post, expectation this will be completed within an 18-month period).
Experience
  • Previous experience at Band 5
  • Experience of relevant specialty
  • Evidence of practice development
  • Experience of coordinating a team
