Job Description

Job Title: Principal Mechanical Engineer

Job Summary:

We are seeking an experienced Principal Mechanical Engineer to join our Mechanical Engineering team. This role will suit a committed and ambitious engineer who can demonstrate strong leadership and interpersonal skills combined with commercial awareness and the ability to play their part in a high-performance team.

Main Responsibilities:

  • Lead a team of Mechanical Engineers reporting to the Discipline Lead M&E and act as MEP Contractors Responsible Engineer (CRE) and/or Lead Engineer on MEP projects allocated to them by the Discipline Lead M&E.
  • Be accountable for the design delivery of Mechanical Design allocated to MEP Projects.
  • Be involved in major projects within the Engineering discipline covering both rail and non-rail services.
  • Ensure projects are completed to meet all client's requirements and applicable standards and to the agreed project programme.
  • Ensure projects are completed to the agreed budget.
  • Plan the project works and provide forward view resource forecasting to enable the team leader to allocate suitable resource to the projects.
  • Identify changes to the projects client requirements and raise the changes with the SYSTRA Project Management Team.
  • Provide monthly cost to complete forecasts to the SYSTRA Project Management Team.
  • Ensure the training and development needs of the mechanical team are met to serve the clients'/projects requirements.

Requirements:

  • Minimum HNC qualified in Mechanical Engineering or demonstrable equivalent experience.
  • Detailed knowledge of mechanical services design within the built environment or transport infrastructure including HVAC, Public Health, Building Physics and BIM.
  • Detailed knowledge of multi-disciplinary issues associated with M&E and building services.
  • Management of a team of Mechanical engineers on allocated projects.
