Job Title: Slinger

Location: Portsmouth

Salary: £34,640. (Shift allowance of 33% may be applicable)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to all policies, procedures, and standard operating practices, while providing recommendations for improvement.
  • Verify that all equipment, machinery, and accessories in use are within their testing and examination dates and are in a safe, operational condition.
  • Conduct all tasks in compliance with relevant site regulations, including LOLER and PUWER, as well as company policies.
  • Complete all administrative duties associated with the role, including collaboration in the creation of risk assessments, pre-use checklists, and standard complex lift plans.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

  • NVQ Level 2 or equivalent qualifications/experience.
  • CPCS NPORS or equivalent certification.
  • Familiarity with LOLER, PUWER, and BS7121 standards.
  • Experience in general lifting operations using various lifting equipment in maritime and facilities settings, including fleeting operations with different capacity chain blocks.

About the Slinging & Fleeting Team:
As a member of the Slinging and Fleeting team, you will perform all aspects of slinging and fleeting items throughout the ship, including overhead gantry crane operations as required. This role may involve utilizing information technology systems to assist in preparing lifting operations. You will have the opportunity to engage in a diverse range of tasks, ensuring that no two days are alike, while also having pathways for advancement within the lifting structure and the company.
