About the Role
This is a pivotal senior position and an exceptional opportunity for a seasoned finance professional eager to make a significant impact. You will have the autonomy to enhance value, implement financial oversight methodologies, policies, and procedures while reporting directly to the Head of Financial Oversight.
As the Lead Manager of Financial Oversight, your responsibilities will include designing and developing the Group's Financial Oversight methodology, executing and monitoring financial controls, documenting risks and controls, training a diverse range of stakeholders, collaborating with the Group's Internal and External Auditors, and taking ownership of the Financial Oversight team's deliverables.
You will provide specialized support and business partnership for financial oversight across the organization. The ideal candidate will utilize technical expertise, commercial insights, and outstanding interpersonal skills to drive, influence, and challenge the organization in achieving both short-term and long-term financial goals, while identifying and mitigating financial control vulnerabilities and associated risks.
If you are an experienced Senior Qualified Accountant with a background at a Senior Manager level, capable of demonstrating robust management and leadership abilities, and possess proven experience working with senior leadership, we encourage you to explore this opportunity.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead a team of up to seven individuals, managing the performance and development of direct reports.
- Take ownership of the design, implementation, and ongoing monitoring of the Group's Financial Oversight methodology, ensuring compliance with relevant accounting policies and procedures while incorporating the latest developments and best practices.
- Accountable for the design and execution of the financial oversight plan, embedding the second line within the Finance function.
- Serve as a subject matter expert in the application of the Group's Financial Oversight methodology.
- Oversee the process aspects of the Financial Oversight team, ensuring systems controls are integrated to address the end-to-end process.
- Significantly influence and guide the financial oversight vision and roadmap for the Group, including evaluating opportunities for standardization and automation.
- Review the testing of key controls and ensure that appropriate recommendations for enhancements are implemented to maintain a 'no surprises' environment.
- Deliver tailored training, guidance, and advice to both finance and non-finance teams, emphasizing the importance of financial oversight in their respective areas to ensure controls are integrated.
- Manage the Finance Risk Register, Controls Self Certification, and related validations of Financial Oversight and Financial Risks on the Fraud Risk Assessment.
- Prepare and present papers to committees on Financial Oversight matters.
- Create control metrics to monitor the control environment for end-to-end processes through a Financial Oversight Dashboard.
- Oversee the team's preparation, review, and presentation of the monthly Financial Oversight KPI pack.
- Encourage early involvement of the Financial Oversight team in process changes to identify weaknesses and design necessary controls to mitigate risks.
About You
- 7+ years of post-qualification experience (ideally 10 years, ACA / ACCA or equivalent) with a degree-level education. Candidates with experience outside this range are also encouraged to apply.
- Assurance Qualification (CIA/ CMIIA or equivalent).
- Significant demonstrable experience in a similar role, with experience operating at Senior Manager level in internal audit, second line, or other assurance roles.
- Experience in designing assurance methodologies (e.g., financial controls, internal audit, SoX), including the implementation, design, and monitoring of financial controls.
- Familiarity with Risk and Control Matrices (RACMs).
- Experience with the COSO Framework is highly desirable.
