About the Role

We are seeking a Senior Health and Safety Adviser to join our team at the Wellcome Genome Campus. As a key member of our Campus Health and Safety team, you will play a crucial role in delivering pragmatic, professional health and safety support to our Institute and further afield.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the Campus Health and Safety team in emergency response and fire safety initiatives.
  • Conduct fire and DSEAR risk assessments and ensure compliance with accessibility regulations.
  • Develop and implement emergency response and fire safety arrangements through regular inspections and audits.
  • Provide guidance on the safe use of laboratory supplied medical gases and liquid Nitrogen.
  • Liaise with Estates and Facilities regarding maintenance and building projects.

Essential Skills:

  • Graduate degree in a relevant field or equivalent qualification.
  • Graduate membership of the Institution of Occupational Health and Safety or equivalent health and safety professional body with an active CPD programme.
  • IFE Fire Management qualification or equivalent.
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to consider risk and broader implications.
  • Demonstrable experience in a tactical health and safety, fire safety role.
  • Excellent interpersonal and written/verbal communication skills.
  • Positive attitude focused on finding solutions.
  • Proven ability to plan and prioritize work with minimal supervision.
  • Experience in engaging audiences when delivering training sessions.
  • Competent user of IT in an office environment.
