Exciting Opportunity for a Mechanical Cost Estimator
We are seeking a skilled Mechanical Cost Estimator to become a vital part of a reputable Building Services contractor known for its extensive experience and impressive client portfolio.
With over three decades in the industry, this company excels in managing projects valued up to £5 Million, focusing on both direct engagements with end users and collaborations with management contractors.
Project types include Commercial refurbishments, Decarbonisation initiatives, as well as Education and Healthcare developments. The majority of the work involves significant refurbishments of existing structures, complemented by some new construction projects.
Key Responsibilities:
- Conduct material take-offs and coordinate with subcontractors and suppliers to accurately quantify tender requirements.
- Secure competitive and precise quotations from specialist suppliers and subcontractors.
- Assess and validate supplier and subcontractor quotes for compliance.
- Ensure tenders are meticulously prepared to meet high standards and adhere to client deadlines.
- Collaborate with fellow estimating team members and contracts managers.
- Assist in identifying risks and pricing them throughout the bidding process.
- Utilize Estimation software to perform estimates.
- Conduct site visits and surveys as necessary.
- Thoroughly evaluate and comprehend the details and requirements for each tender.
Ideal Candidate Profile:
- Strong mechanical technical knowledge, with either a solid Mechanical Trade/Engineering background or an HNC/D in Building Services Engineering.
- Proven estimating experience within the construction or building services sector.
- Proficient in estimating and securing projects valued up to £5M.
- Comprehensive understanding of the commercial tendering process and associated procedures.
- Ability to manage multiple bids effectively.
