Position Overview

We are collaborating with a prestigious construction firm seeking a Junior Construction Counsel to enhance their legal team in London.

Role Overview:

  • Junior to mid-level Commercial Construction Lawyer;
  • 0-3 years of experience in a legal capacity (PQE for reference only);
  • Provide support to global construction operations as necessary;
  • Flexible and agile working arrangements considered, based in London.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Review, negotiate, and draft contracts and legal agreements for various business initiatives, with supervision as needed.
  • Provide advice on emerging issues, insured risks, and commercial inquiries, under guidance when required.
  • Deliver training sessions to the organization on legal and contractual risks and considerations.
  • Update legal precedents and templates, contributing to process improvements and enhanced operational methods.
  • Collaborate closely with insurance brokers and occasionally with external legal counsel on relevant matters.
  • Ensure compliance with regulations related to ethics, GDPR, health, and safety.

Qualifications and Skills:

  • Qualified legal professional in England & Wales or a relevant jurisdiction.
  • Strong technical legal knowledge and commercial insight into the construction sector.
  • Familiarity with industry-standard contracts, such as Joint Contracts Tribunal (JCT) and New Engineering Contract (NEC).
  • Understanding of construction project insurances and claims management.
  • Proficient legal English, both written and spoken.
  • Effective negotiation abilities.
