Lead Instrumentation and Control Engineer

As the Lead Instrumentation & Control Engineer at Orion Group, you will play a pivotal role in ensuring optimal performance in the operation and upkeep of the Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit. Your primary focus will be on facilitating the execution and management of both SECE and Non-SECE maintenance activities, while also overseeing discipline-specific risks. Furthermore, you will be tasked with identifying opportunities for enhancements in safety, emissions reduction, asset longevity, and Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) scheduling.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Contributions
- Engage in Asset Life Extension initiatives to align with corporate objectives.
- Provide essential Instrumentation & Control expertise for Concept and Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) projects.
Asset Management Duties
- Coordinate vendor mobilizations in accordance with CMMS timelines.
- Assist in the planning of SECE and Non-SECE maintenance to effectively manage workload and minimize backlog.
- Assume responsibility for Instrumentation & Control modifications and participate in plant alterations following the Management of Change (MoC) protocol.
- Offer Instrumentation & Control insights for the planning and execution of brownfield initiatives.
- Support Inspection and Certification Program (ICP) assessments and ensure timely resolution of action items.
- Oversee Functional Safety Studies and audits, including FSA 4 evaluations.
- Lead Alarm Management discussions with both onshore and offshore teams.
- Contribute to the development of integrated asset plans covering 6-week, 90-day, and 6-quarter timelines.
- Formulate annual budgets to facilitate ongoing maintenance and enhancement projects.
- Enhance the efficiency of maintenance schedules through risk and reliability assessments.
- Manage Instrumentation & Control risks within the asset's Risk Register.
- Stay informed on legislative changes and ensure adherence to international standards and industry best practices.
- Assist in mitigating risks associated with obsolescence of safety-critical instrumentation systems and components.
- Participate in investigations of production losses and implement improvement strategies based on findings.
- Conduct regular offshore visits for audits and to support field personnel.
- Attend monthly meetings with the Instrumentation and Controls Technical Authority and ensure action items are addressed.
- Provide guidance and mentorship to fellow engineers and junior Instrumentation & Control Engineers.
Education & Experience
- Possess an honors degree in a relevant engineering discipline or equivalent experience in the oil and gas sector.
- Demonstrated experience in mobilizing and operating in both onshore and offshore settings.
