The Creative Design Support Specialist plays a crucial role in assisting the Design Team in crafting, developing, and delivering high-quality products within established timelines, ensuring optimal profit margins while adhering to the strategic objectives for each product category. This position is essential in helping the Design Team create compelling, consumer-focused products and collections, with the primary aim of surpassing the quality expectations of the brand's clientele.
Key Responsibilities
Design, Development, and Innovation:
- Collaborate with the Design Team throughout the design journey from concept to finalization, ensuring products align with market trends, brand identity, and business strategies.
- Assist in researching and formulating the seasonal creative and color direction, in alignment with consumer preferences and the seasonal business plan.
- Help prepare seasonal color palettes and visual mood boards under the guidance of the Design Manager, reflecting seasonal themes and inspirations.
- Provide precise and detailed CAD drawings and specifications to facilitate timely prototype and BOM creation.
- Maintain technical packs, ensuring design CADs are updated and consistent with accurate BOM information and the latest prototype samples.
- Participate in fit meetings and design evaluations.
- Support the Design Team in engineering products that meet target costs while discovering innovative and cost-effective solutions that maintain product aesthetics and quality.
- Enhance product knowledge by staying informed about new developments and innovations within the industry and related fields.
- Engage in regular research to remain at the forefront of trends and shifts in the textile and apparel sectors.
- Continuously explore relevant marketplaces, including competitors, for inspiration and opportunities in product design, fabrics, trims, colors, technologies, and sustainable practices.
- Share insights and research findings with the Design and Product teams.
- General Assistance and Administrative Duties:
- Assist the Design Team with organizational and administrative tasks, including setting up mood and color boards, updating visual templates, and organizing samples.
- Support the Design Team in researching and preparing concepts, design inspirations, and trends, presenting them clearly and professionally at all stages.
- Contribute to the analysis of upcoming market trends and competitive products.
- Assist the Design Team in preparing for product presentations, meetings, and range reviews.
- Ensure that visual overviews, including style and color information, are accurately updated and communicated to the broader team.
- Deliver assigned tasks according to the seasonal calendar, highlighting any potential risks and understanding the implications of the critical path on other business areas.
- Continue to develop knowledge of the design and development process through to final product approval.
- Build understanding of garment construction and its appropriate application within design.
- Enhance knowledge of garment fit, sizing, and pattern making.
- Actively increase awareness and understanding of the target consumer and the intended use of the products.
- Perform additional related duties and projects as assigned by the Design Manager.
- Willingness to travel within the UK, Europe, and Asia as necessary.
- Technical Skills & Qualifications:
- A degree or equivalent qualification in Apparel or Product Design.
- Proficient in Adobe Creative Suite and skilled in Microsoft Office and PowerPoint.
- Familiarity with Excel is advantageous.
Knowledge & Experience:
- Ideal for a graduate seeking to launch their career in Design.
- Preferred knowledge and understanding of technical apparel or sportswear.
