Job Summary

UKCIL is seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Personal Assistant to support a 14-year-old son with autism, ADHD, and cognitive delay. The successful candidate will provide assistance with daily activities, social interactions, and emotional support to help the individual build confidence and independence.

Key Responsibilities

  • Accompany the individual on days out and activities in the community
  • Supervise and support the individual at all times, ensuring their safety and well-being
  • Use strategies to encourage and distract the individual when feeling anxious or uncertain
  • Set clear boundaries and expectations of behavior while with the individual
  • Encourage appropriate social interactions with peers and adults
  • Assist with tasks such as transportation and accessing community activities

Requirements

  • Understanding of autism, ADHD, and cognitive delay
  • Experience working with individuals with similar needs
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Confidentiality and discretion when working with the individual and their family

Working Hours

4 hours per week, term time, and 6 hours during school holidays, mostly evenings with possible weekends

Pay and Benefits

£12.40 per hour (gross) at all times
