Job Overview

A Consultant post in Clinical Neurophysiology is available at the John Radcliffe Hospital, Oxford University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust.

The appointment is on a full-time basis, but applications are welcome from those who wish to job share.

Main Duties

The postholder's duties will be primarily at the Neurophysiology department at the John Radcliffe Hospital.

The focus is on contributing to the EEG video-telemetry service and reporting of sleep studies, including epilepsy pre-surgical assessment using intracranial recording.

The post holder will work closely with multidisciplinary teams dealing with epilepsy and sleep disorders in the trust and as part of the Children's Epilepsy Surgery Network (CESS).

There is currently no on-call commitment.

Key Responsibilities
  1. Contribute to the running of the diagnostic EEG, paediatric and adult epilepsy (including pre-surgical evaluation), and sleep disorders in adults and children.
  2. Participate in the urgent adult and paediatric neurophysiology rota, providing an in-hours weekday service and cover during colleagues' leave of absence.
  3. Perform or supervise reporting of standard EEG and video-telemetry, support clinical meetings and case discussions, and conduct EMG or other specialty clinics.
  4. Supervise and guide registrar and physiologists within the Neurophysiology department.
