Job Overview

Role Objective

The primary aim of this position is to guarantee that the consumer banking operations are executed in accordance with relevant laws and regulations, while assisting the bank in managing legal and regulatory risks associated with these operations.

Key Responsibilities
  • Formulation and execution of optimal legal strategies for risk management and compliance.
  • Proactive legal counsel and support to the consumer banking division on a diverse array of legal matters, including regulatory compliance, management of regulatory changes, consumer protection, and risk mitigation.
  • Representation of the bank in legal matters concerning consumer banking, including litigation, arbitration, and regulatory inquiries and investigations.
  • Drafting and periodic assessment of legal documents in line with contractual policies to ensure adherence to applicable laws and regulations.
  • Conducting legal research and analysis to remain informed about changes in laws and regulations that may affect the bank's consumer banking functions.
  • Designing and delivering training programs to inform employees about legal and regulatory obligations related to consumer banking.
  • Proactively identifying, communicating, and providing legal guidance on relevant laws, rules, and regulations (LRRs). Staying updated on changes to LRRs in the relevant area of coverage. Ensuring that LRRs are properly allocated and adequately reflected in relevant policies, standards, and controls.

  • Provide counsel to key stakeholders, including functional leadership teams and senior management on functional and cross-functional areas of impact and alignment.
  • Assess and mitigate risks to support the control and governance agenda.
  • Exhibit leadership and accountability for managing risks and enhancing controls related to the team's work.
  • Demonstrate a comprehensive understanding of organizational functions to contribute to achieving business objectives.
  • Collaborate with other work areas to ensure business-aligned support and stay informed about business activities and strategies.
  • Develop solutions based on advanced analytical thinking, comparing and selecting complex alternatives. In-depth analysis and interpretative thinking will be essential for defining problems and crafting innovative solutions.
  • Incorporate the findings of extensive research into problem-solving processes.
  • Establish and maintain trusting relationships and partnerships with internal and external stakeholders to achieve key business objectives, utilizing influencing and negotiation skills to secure outcomes.
