Position Overview

CONSTRUCTION LEGAL ADVISOR

Are you a qualified legal professional with 3-5 years of post-qualification experience seeking a new opportunity? Do you possess expertise in both contentious and non-contentious construction law? If so, Gleeson Recruitment Group is in search of a Construction Legal Advisor to spearhead support for their construction division.

This organization is a prominent provider of specialized engineering, asset management, and inspection services tailored for regulated sectors, local authorities, and clients with essential infrastructure needs. Their extensive service offerings encompass lightning protection systems, electrical earthing solutions, height safety solutions, and utility network design and installation.

As the Construction Legal Advisor, your key responsibilities will include:

  • Reviewing, drafting, and negotiating various contracts for projects, which may range from substantial frameworks for utility companies to support capital investments between £500k and £60m.
  • Preparing board papers for projects at various stages, including pre-tender, tender, and post-tender phases.
  • Reviewing and drafting collateral warranties, non-disclosure agreements, parent company guarantees, retention agreements, performance bonds, and framework contracts.
  • Formulating and implementing policies and procedures to assist bid teams, quantity surveyors, and commercial managers.
  • Managing multiple intricate legal matters concurrently.

Essential Skills and Qualifications:

  • Qualified solicitor with 3-6 years of post-qualification experience.
  • Proficient in both contentious and non-contentious construction law.
  • Familiarity with standard construction contracts such as JCT, NEC, and FIDIC, as well as the ability to work with customized client agreements.
  • Litigation experience is advantageous.
  • Demonstrates integrity and discretion in all dealings.
  • Proactive and pragmatic approach to problem-solving.
  • Hands-on involvement with issues, providing constructive support and challenge to colleagues.
  • Able to communicate effectively and collaborate with individuals at all organizational levels.
