Job Title: Leaving Care Specialist

Job Summary:

Barnardo's is seeking a skilled and compassionate Leaving Care Specialist to join our team. As a key member of our staff, you will play a vital role in supporting care experienced young people to live independent lives.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Carry out pathway plans reviews, statutory visits, and risk assessments for care experienced young people.
  • Offer information, advice, guidance, and support with accommodation, health, education, employment, and independent living skills.
  • Work in partnership with other agencies to provide information, advice, and guidance on employment, education, and training opportunities.
  • Support care experienced young people to attain their employment, housing, educational, and emotional wellbeing aspirations.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with young people, families, and other professionals to ensure seamless support.
  • Contribute to the development and implementation of strategies to improve outcomes for care experienced young people.
  • Participate in the delivery of the Urgent Support service and work collaboratively with the team to achieve shared goals.

Requirements:

  • Knowledge and experience of working with care experienced young people and the Signs of Safety model.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build strong relationships with young people, families, and professionals.
  • Ability to work at a fast pace in a self-managed demanding role, managing own diary, workload, and prioritizing tasks.
  • Good level of knowledge and competency in the use of IT, including Microsoft programs and internal platforms and systems.
  • Essential driving license and ability to travel nationwide, occasional overnight stays.
