Job Summary:

The Gregory Group is seeking a skilled Transport Planner to join our team in Coalville. As a Transport Planner, you will be responsible for planning and scheduling transportation operations to ensure efficient and effective delivery of goods.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Plan and organize transportation activities to meet customer requirements and ensure timely delivery of goods.
  • Collaborate with Transport Managers to optimize transportation operations and improve efficiency.
  • Identify opportunities to add value to existing contracts and develop strategies to implement them.
  • Liaise with warehouse teams to ensure trailers and vehicles are available when required.
  • Communicate with internal and external customers regarding transportation operations.
  • Ensure vehicle activity is planned in the most efficient manner to minimize costs and maximize productivity.
  • Ensure all contracted work is covered in line with customer expectations.
  • Debrief drivers at the end of each shift to ensure they are aware of any issues or concerns.
  • Meet daily revenue targets per shift per vehicle.
  • Communicate collection times and delivery bookings with customers.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures to ensure a safe and efficient work environment.
  • Monitor and update the Transportation Management System (TMS) to ensure accurate and up-to-date information.
  • Observe and follow company Safe Systems of Work (SSOW) at all times, including maintaining personal hygiene standards and wearing uniform and PPE as required.

Requirements:

  • Previous experience in transportation planning and logistics.
  • Good understanding of legal compliance, driver's hours, and Working Time Directives (WTDs).
  • Leadership skills and ability to lead successful change initiatives.
  • Proven experience in customer relationship management and communication.
  • Ability to present to senior stakeholders within the company and to customers.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder engagement skills.
  • IT literacy, including Microsoft Office, and strong analytical ability to review data and reports.
