Lead Transport Planner

**So what's it all about?**:
As Lead Asphalt and Aggregates Planner, you will take a leadership role within the asphalt and aggregates planning team to provide our customers with the highest standards of customer service ensuring that we meet customer promises and deliver on time in full, whilst optimising EBIT. Primarily you will respond to enquiries and work in an organised fashion, planning orders from our most cost-effective plant, tracking orders and communicating with key stakeholders right up to delivery on the customers doorstep
You’ll also work alongside our Distribution Supervisor and Customer Services Manager to:
- Build and optimise the distribution plan that enables product delivery to meet customer need - liaising with the team and across Operations and Transport teams to do so.
- Plan optimal distribution of available transport, proactively seeking opportunities to maximise utilisation of core fleet and reduce contract costs
- Engage with production teams to respond to changes in the plan (caused by customer circumstance, production schedules, etc), proactively communicating with customers to make them aware and re-arrange where appropriate. Plan to resolve shortfalls in capacity maximise customer satisfaction by proactively managing variances to the plan by coordinating with Production, Transport and the customer.

Existing experience or knowledge of the construction materials industry is preferred
