Early Years Support Assistant

Smile Education Recruitment is seeking a dedicated and experienced Teaching Assistant to support an Early Years Setting in the West Bromwich area. The successful candidate will work two days every other week to cover staff absence, allowing the team to complete Continuing Professional Development (CPD) opportunities.
This role will continue until the end of the academic year, with the potential to become a permanent position from the Spring term onwards. The hours of work are Wednesday 9am-1pm and Thursday 9am-3pm, every other week.
The setting has applied for funding to support a child who requires 1:1 assistance, which may increase the working hours by an additional 15 hours per week. This is subject to a pending decision.
About the SettingThe Early Years Setting aims to provide a high-quality, nurturing, and fun education for children during their early years journey. The team creates a positive learning environment, offering experiences and challenges that foster happy memories and promote social, emotional, and cognitive development.
The setting offers term-time only care and can accommodate up to 24 children. They promote their core values daily, which include equality, respect, responsibility, co-operation, peace, and perseverance.
Candidate RequirementsTo be successful in this role, you will need:
- A minimum of a Level 3 qualification in Childcare or Education
- Recent experience of supporting students in an Early Years environment
- Confidence in assisting children on a 1:1 basis, particularly those with Autism and ADHD
- Able to provide references covering the past years, with a focus on interaction with children and supporting students with additional needs/EHCP plans
- A commitment to this role on a long-term basis
Please note that you will need to hold an enhanced DBS on the Update Service or be able to apply for a new one through Smile Education.
