Position Overview:


The Gray's Inn Road supported accommodation initiative provides essential short-term housing solutions aimed at combating homelessness in the London Borough of Camden.

This service, backed by governmental funding and in collaboration with local authorities and housing organizations, is dedicated to the mission of making homelessness infrequent, brief, and non-recurrent.

While there is no set maximum duration for stays, the program is structured to facilitate transitions into appropriate housing options within a timeframe of 3-6 months.

As an overnight support coordinator, you will be responsible for the smooth operation of the Gray's Inn Road initiative during nighttime hours.

Your role will involve being the first point of contact for clients, ensuring their safety, managing building access, responding to emergencies, conducting health and safety checks, and documenting any issues that arise during your shift.


Working as an overnight support coordinator in SHP accommodations entails assisting individuals facing multiple challenges, including homelessness, mental and physical health issues, trauma, substance misuse, and interactions with the criminal justice system.

Some clients may have significant support needs and may exhibit challenging behaviors. All overnight coordinators will have access to guidance and support from SHP's Out of Hours Management On Call service.

Candidate Profile:
A mature and open-minded approach to engaging with a client demographic that may display challenging behaviors.

A foundational understanding of the complex issues often faced by vulnerable individuals utilizing SHP services.

The ability to appropriately challenge situations, along with the capacity to exercise initiative and make informed, prompt decisions within SHP's policy framework.

An awareness of health and safety regulations and the potential issues that may arise in a residential setting.
Strong customer service skills, integrity, punctuality, and the ability to work independently without direct oversight.

Proficiency in using computers for note-taking and logging activities, as well as sending and receiving emails.
