Job Title: Head of Year

TimePlan Education is working in partnership with a reputable secondary school in Lewisham to recruit a Head of Year for a temporary to permanent position.

Job Summary:

The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting the welfare, behaviour, and academic progress of a specific year group. You will be joining a school that is part of a trust with a supportive Senior Leadership Team (SLT) committed to providing excellent opportunities for professional growth.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Lead and manage a designated year group, with a focus on student welfare, behaviour, and academic achievement.
  2. Collaborate closely with the SLT and other Heads of Year to ensure consistent pastoral care across the school.
  3. Maintain a teaching timetable within your subject specialism while balancing Head of Year responsibilities.
  4. Organise and lead year group assemblies, events, and extracurricular activities.
  5. Contribute to whole-school initiatives, particularly around behaviour management and safeguarding.
Person Specification:
  1. Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) with experience in secondary education.
  2. Previous middle management experience in a school setting.
  3. A passion for pastoral care and supporting student well-being.
  4. Excellent organisational skills and the ability to manage a dual teaching and pastoral role effectively.
