The Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Production Team Leader to join our team at our Wolverhampton facility. As a key member of our production team, you will be responsible for managing a team of operational staff to ensure the smooth running of our manufacturing processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Health, Safety, and Environment (HSE): Ensure a zero-accident mentality is maintained by managing HSE issues during the shift.
  • Production Planning: Assist in planning and organizing production to meet sales requirements, ensuring quality, cost, and delivery targets are met.
  • Labour Scheduling: Schedule and utilize labor resources to achieve production goals.
  • Training and Development: Identify and facilitate training needs for team members, promoting people management and development.
  • Continuous Improvement: Use Pareto analysis to identify areas for improvement and drive initiatives to close out.
  • Waste Reduction: Identify and implement measures to reduce waste across the production process.
  • Performance Management: Conduct appraisals, provide direction, and take responsibility for team members' performance.
  • Collaboration: Work closely with the Production Manager and Engineering Manager to escalate production issues and concerns.
  • Reporting and Compliance: Accurately complete compliance paperwork, daily shift reports, and HR attendance reports as required.
  • Production Flow: Maintain a consistent production flow, ensuring employees are fully trained and working efficiently.
  • Staffing and Absences: Ensure the shift is fully staffed, with absences backfilled as necessary.
  • Employee Welfare and Accidents: Report and manage employee welfare and accidents during the shift.
  • Machinery and Materials: Report machine discrepancies and ensure efficient running of materials.
  • Issue Reporting: Provide detailed reporting on any issues, discrepancies, or concerns across the shift.

Requirements

  • A minimum of 5 years' experience in a manufacturing environment as a Shift Manager or similar supervisory role.
  • Lean manufacturing or production management experience (online or open university).
  • GCSE Grade C and above or equivalent in Maths and English.
  • Fully computer literate and competent in using Microsoft packages, including Outlook.
