About the Role

Zaha Hadid Architects is seeking a skilled Tech Lab Workshop Assistant to join our team in London. As a key member of our workshop team, you will be responsible for assisting in the creation of architectural models, preparing 3D files for printing, and supporting the Tech Lab Workshop Manager with fabrication tasks.

Main Responsibilities

  • Assist in the creation of architectural models, including final presentation models and design process models.
  • Prepare 3D files for printing, including fixing up files for in-house use or external companies.
  • Work collaboratively with the team to brainstorm ideas and solve problems.
  • Assist with administrative tasks, such as scheduling and costings.
  • Help maintain stock levels and order materials as needed.
  • Ensure the workshop is clean, organized, and professional.
  • Be aware of the sensitive nature of our work and maintain confidentiality when required.
  • Develop a good understanding of multiple views and perspectives.
  • Participate in workshops and events, both internally and with external service providers and creatives.

Required Skills

  • Have a good understanding of the 3D printing process, including different technologies and materials.
  • Be proficient in 2D and 3D CAD software.
  • Have a good understanding of laser cutting and CNC processes.
  • Be competent in using workshop equipment, such as saws, sanders, and knives.

Desired Skills and Qualifications

  • Have a high level of experience in one or more of the following programs: Rhino, Materialise Magics, AutoCAD, Maya.
  • Have strong accuracy and model making skills.
  • Have a good understanding of Modelshop machinery and processes.
  • Be familiar with geometry and its impact on architecture.
  • Have experience with the 3D printing process and be able to create files suitable for use with 3D printers.
