Job Summary
The University of York is seeking a highly skilled Technical Specialist to join our team in the field of indoor air quality monitoring. As a key member of our team, you will be responsible for the installation, operation, and maintenance of air pollution measurement equipment in our INTERIORS facility.
Key Responsibilities
- Design and build custom sampling systems to enable measurement from different rooms in the houses and outside.
- Develop calibration methodologies for various instruments and design a robust data logging system for long-term measurements.
- Conduct initial testing and installation of equipment, including setup and operation of VOC measurement systems using grab sampling and Gas Chromatography techniques.
- Provide technical support and training to other users of the facility, ensuring accurate and reliable data collection.
- Collaborate with our team to develop and implement new measurement techniques and methodologies.
Requirements
- First degree in physics, environmental science, or chemistry, with a PhD or equivalent experience in a related field.
- Proven experience in installation and operation of air pollution measurement equipment.
- Strong laboratory skills and awareness of health and safety protocols.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
