About the Role
The Office for Environmental Protection is seeking a highly organized and detail-oriented Legal Administrator to join our General Counsel directorate. As a key member of our team, you will provide administrative and project management support to our lawyers and legal researchers, ensuring the smooth operation of our legal functions.
Key Responsibilities
- Coordinate internal and external meetings, prepare meeting agendas, and circulate papers and notes.
- Field internal enquiries, direct them to lawyers, and monitor follow-up actions.
- Carry out business administration, including preparing Purchase Orders, managing counsel's fee notes, and liaising with our Finance team.
- Assist in instructing counsel and external solicitors, and provide administrative support in connection with such suppliers.
- Set up and maintain internal filing systems, and provide suggestions for more streamlined ways of working.
- Assist with the project management of legal tasks, including investigations, court proceedings, and litigation case management.
- Assist in legal research, particularly on issues of environmental and public law.
- Support in handling complaints made to the OEP regarding public authorities' failures to comply with environmental law.
Requirements
- Excellent organization skills to manage time effectively and prioritize workload.
- Attention to detail and ability to ensure tasks are completed accurately.
- Confidence using Microsoft Office (Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
- Good written and verbal communication skills.
- Ability to work well with others, develop relationships of trust with internal and external stakeholders, and confidently deal with technical specialists and senior leaders.
- Willingness to learn about the organization and keep up to date with new and emerging issues facing the OEP.
- Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities to deliver in an often time-sensitive environment.
