Position Overview

The Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust is seeking a dedicated part-time Lead Nurse to enhance our Breast Care Services. This role offers flexible hours within our outpatient breast service, operating Monday through Friday. The successful candidate will collaborate with the current Lead Nurse, who will manage the clinical aspects of this shared position.

Key Responsibilities

As the Lead Nurse, you will:

  • Provide professional guidance and leadership within the breast service, ensuring that nursing and care staff deliver exemplary care with empathy.
  • Serve as a role model, maintaining the highest standards of clinical practice and operational efficiency.
  • Oversee the management of resources and the care environment, ensuring services are organized to meet patient needs and uphold quality care.

Job Duties

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Ensuring the delivery of high-quality care through effective monitoring processes.
  • Guaranteeing that the nursing team is well-resourced and supported.
  • Leading the development of clinical services in alignment with national policies and patient care requirements.
  • Providing visible leadership and mentorship to the nursing and support teams.

  • Maintaining a safe and organized clinical environment through rigorous standards.
  • Implementing strategies to maximize nurses' time in direct patient interaction.
  • Managing financial resources effectively to meet targets and ensure sustainability.

Qualifications & Experience

Essential qualifications include:

  • Professional Registration in Nursing
  • A degree in healthcare or a related field
  • Completion of a management or leadership development course
  • Teaching and assessing qualifications

Desirable qualifications include:

  • Extensive experience as a breast care nurse with patient examination skills
  • Advanced academic study in nursing
  • Clinical examination certification
  • Specialized breast care qualifications
