About the Role

We are seeking a highly skilled and compassionate Palliative Care Specialist to join our team at County Durham and Darlington NHS Foundation Trust. As a key member of our Specialist Palliative Care Team, you will provide clinical assessment and management in palliative medicine for patients in County Durham.

Main Responsibilities
  • Provide high-quality, flexible, and responsive medical support, assessment, and care for patients with complex pain, symptom, spiritual, and psychosocial needs.
  • Work collaboratively with palliative care consultants, hospital palliative care teams, and clinical staff to ensure seamless transitions across care boundaries.
  • Participate in teaching and educational activities, including undergraduate medical education and GP trainees, to promote palliative and end-of-life care.
  • Maintain continuing professional development through personal development goals and regular review to support and encourage development.
Requirements
  • Ability to travel independently between sites.
  • Higher medical qualification or relevant full-time equivalent post-graduate training.
  • Diploma in Palliative Medicine or relevant experience.
  • Counselling skills that are sensitive to patients and carers.
