Job Summary

We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Health and Safety professional to join our dynamic quality team. As a Senior Health and Safety Advisor, you will play a critical role in ensuring operational safety for the development, production, and testing of our self-limiting insect technologies.

You will provide health and safety guidance to all teams, strengthen our positive health and safety culture, and work closely with departments to prepare risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and standard operating procedures. Your expertise will be essential in identifying potential hazards, determining fit-for-purpose solutions, and ensuring compliance with current health and safety legislation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide health and safety guidance to all teams, promoting a positive health and safety culture.
  • Work with teams to prepare risk assessments, COSHH assessments, and standard operating procedures.
  • Identify potential hazards and determine effective solutions to reduce risks.
  • Provide health and safety training and ensure up-to-date training records for all team members.
  • Ensure that critical health and safety equipment is maintained and serviced on time.
  • Perform internal health and safety audits to ensure compliance with safety policies and practices.
  • Investigate accident and near-miss reports, track implementation of improvement actions, and run health and safety meetings.
  • Stay up-to-date with current health and safety legislation and ensure compliance.
Requirements
  • BSc in Biological Sciences or a related field.
  • Experience working in a laboratory setting is essential.
  • IOSH or NEBOSH training is required.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills, with the ability to build and develop relationships.
  • Diligent and organized, with accurate data recording skills.
  • A creative approach to problem-solving and developing applied solutions.
  • Strong attention to detail, excellent timekeeping standards, and responsiveness.
  • Self-starting, with the ability to work independently and as a strong team player.
  • Good written English and oral communication skills.
  • Competent in MS Word, Excel, and Outlook.
