Job Description

Service Engineer (Control Systems)

West Midlands (UK & International Travel)

Salary Experience Dependant + Company Van

Our client, a leading provider of integrated automated solutions, is seeking a skilled Systems Engineer to provide on-site service and commissioning of complete Electrical Control Systems. This includes PLCs, AC/DC drives, general control gear, and SCADA systems.

Key Responsibilities – Service Engineer (Control Systems)

  • Provide reactive site support for customer automation control applications, including PLC, VSD's, Robots network, and SCADA systems.
  • Offer 24/7 reactive callout support, ensuring prompt resolution of technical issues.
  • Employ a methodical problem-solving approach to resolve complex technical challenges.
  • Conduct workshop testing of engineered automation Control Systems to ensure optimal performance.
  • Investigate and repair components, including PLC, VSD's, Robots network, and SCADA systems.
  • Read and interpret electrical schematic diagrams and PLC software listings.
  • Maintain accurate and up-to-date site logs and timesheets.
  • Accurately mark-up project schematics and documentation.
  • Assist in the development and delivery of bespoke training courses to meet customer requirements.
  • Support and train colleagues to enhance team knowledge and skills.
  • Collaborate with other engineers on on-site commissioning and service of engineered automation Control Systems.
  • Provide technical support to sales teams, including site audits and quotations.

Qualifications & Experience – Service Engineer (Control Systems)

  • Experience with variable speed drives from leading manufacturers, including Siemens, ABB, Danfoss, Rockwell, CT, and Servo drives.
  • Proficiency in PLC programming for Rockwell, Siemens, Mitsubishi, and Omron products and software.
  • Robot experience is highly desirable.
  • Effective communication skills to interact with customers, contractors, and commissioning engineers.
  • Ability to communicate with on-site personnel.
