Our services are available across various locations, and we are committed to ensuring that every woman in need can access our support.

As part of our strategic growth plan, we aim to significantly increase the number of women we assist each year. This involves expanding our current operations and establishing new centers in underserved areas.

Role Overview

An exciting opportunity exists to join the Smart Works Newcastle Board of Trustees as a Shadow Trustee. This role is designed for individuals seeking to gain insights and experience from the current board members in a supportive advisory capacity, paving the way for future trustee responsibilities.

The Shadow Trustee will play a crucial role in enhancing the visibility of our services, particularly among younger clients aged 16-25. This involves advocating for their needs, offering insights to tailor our services to this demographic, and ensuring their voices are heard.

This position is essential for maintaining our core mission of dressing and coaching women for interview success, thereby increasing our impact.

This role offers a unique opportunity for personal and professional development, especially for those passionate about representing young people's interests in the Northeast.

The commitment required for this voluntary position averages around two days per month, with flexibility to accommodate other obligations. Participation in quarterly board meetings and collaboration with staff members will be expected, along with potential involvement in special projects and events.

Support and mentorship will be provided by experienced trustees to ensure a smooth transition into this role.

If you are eager to contribute your skills and experiences to the Smart Works mission and are interested in developing your career within the charity sector, we encourage you to consider this opportunity.

  • Provide valuable insights, propose innovative ideas, and encourage critical thinking.
  • Support strategic planning and direction for the organization.
  • Advocate for the organization, raising awareness of our services among young clients.
  • Foster strong relationships with fellow trustees, staff, and volunteers.
