Operating in various locations, Smart Works Newcastle has positively impacted over 35,000 women in the past decade. Our ambitious Three-Year Plan aims to double the number of women we assist annually, expanding our reach to meet the needs of more individuals.
Role Overview
We are excited to offer a unique opportunity to join our Board of Trustees as a Shadow Trustee. This role is designed for individuals seeking to gain valuable experience in a supportive advisory capacity, paving the way for future trustee responsibilities.
The Shadow Trustee will play a crucial role in enhancing the visibility of Smart Works Newcastle, particularly for younger clients aged 16-25. By advocating for the needs and perspectives of young people, you will help shape our services to better resonate with this demographic.
This position is vital for continuing our mission of dressing and coaching women for job success, thereby increasing the number of individuals we can support.
Commitment and Responsibilities
This voluntary role requires an average commitment of two days per month, with flexibility to accommodate other obligations. Key responsibilities include:
- Attending quarterly board meetings (approximately 3 hours each) to engage in discussions and contribute to decision-making.
- Collaborating with staff and trustees to share insights and ideas.
- Participating in various projects and events focused on fashion, support, and coaching.
You will receive guidance and mentorship from experienced trustees, ensuring a supportive environment for your development.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will possess a passion for supporting our mission and a willingness to learn. While prior experience is not required, effective communication and a proactive approach are essential.
As a representative for young people, you will provide valuable insights on aspects such as clothing offerings and outreach initiatives.
