Scotland, United Kingdom NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Full time

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde stands as one of the largest healthcare systems in the UK, employing approximately 40,000 professionals across a diverse range of clinical and non-clinical roles. We provide comprehensive acute hospital, primary, community, and mental health services to a population exceeding 1.15 million, extending to 2.2 million when including our regional and national services.

As part of a progressive initiative, NHS Scotland is transitioning to a reduced full-time working week of 37 hours, effective from April 2024, without any alteration in remuneration. This adjustment will also apply proportionately to part-time staff. Consequently, this job posting and any subsequent employment contract will reflect the new working hours. However, due to varying service area capabilities, some employees may be required to work an additional 30 minutes weekly temporarily, for which they will be compensated until their service area adjusts its schedules.

This is a fixed-term role for a duration of 12 months.

An exciting opportunity has emerged to join the dynamic and supportive Older People's Psychological Therapies Implementation Team, part of the broader Older People's Psychology Service within Greater Glasgow & Clyde. This position is offered on a full-time, fixed-term basis for 12 months. The successful candidate will play a vital role in the team, focusing on eliminating barriers and enhancing access to psychological therapies for older adults across the region. This mission is pursued through research and collaboration with third-sector organizations, primary care services, and the local community.

The successful candidate will be integral to a small team of Clinical Psychologists, tasked with delivering training, support, and supervision to multidisciplinary team (MDT) colleagues involved in providing psychological interventions to older adults. The role will involve working collaboratively to enhance capacity within a tiered care model, addressing service gaps, and establishing robust governance frameworks. The team collaborates closely with MDT and Older People's Psychology Service colleagues to refine care pathways and improve access to a stepped and matched care model of psychological interventions for older adults, ultimately enhancing outcomes.

The role will also involve utilizing research skills for auditing, policy development, and service enhancement, specifically contributing to demonstrating the impact of the Older People's Psychological Therapies Implementation Team's work.

The Clinical Psychology service for Older People delivers highly specialized support to adults aged 65 and above within the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde area. The mental health component of the service is provided through participation in Community Mental Health Teams for Older People throughout the health board area. The department encompasses a Liaison Clinical Psychology service for older adults in acute hospital settings, a Rehabilitation Clinical Psychology service for older individuals accessing physical health day hospital services, a Young Onset Dementia service, a Care Home Liaison service, and an Inpatient Service for Older People.

The successful candidate will be a valued member of this Psychology department, with professional and operational management provided by the Older People's Psychology Service and the Psychology Directorate. Reporting will be to a Senior Principal Clinical Psychologist for Older People.

Travel across the service area and work at various locations may be required.

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde actively encourages applications from all community sectors, fostering a culture of inclusion within the organization and taking pride in our diverse workforce.

By endorsing the Armed Forces Covenant, NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde has committed to being a Forces Friendly Employer, recognizing military skills, experience, and qualifications during the recruitment process.
