Scotland, United Kingdom NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde Full time

NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde stands as one of the largest healthcare providers in the UK, employing approximately 40,000 professionals across various clinical and non-clinical roles. Our organization is dedicated to delivering comprehensive healthcare services, including acute hospital care, primary care, community services, and mental health support to a diverse population exceeding 1.15 million individuals.

Working Hours Update: As part of NHS Scotland's initiative, the standard full-time working week will transition from 37.5 to 37 hours starting from April 2024, with no alteration in salary. This adjustment will also apply proportionately to part-time employees. It is important to note that some service areas may not immediately implement the new working hours, and you may be required to work an additional 30 minutes per week temporarily, for which you will be compensated until the service adapts its schedules.

Position Overview: This is a fixed-term role lasting 12 months. We are excited to invite applications for a position within the innovative Older People's Psychological Therapies Implementation Team. This role is full-time and aims to enhance access to psychological therapies for older adults across our service area. The successful candidate will engage in collaborative efforts with third-sector organizations, primary care providers, and local communities to reduce barriers to mental health services.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Contribute to a dedicated team of Clinical Psychologists focused on training, support, and supervision of multidisciplinary team members involved in delivering psychological interventions to older adults.
  • Assist in developing a tiered care model that addresses service gaps and establishes effective governance frameworks.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams and the Older People's Psychology Service to enhance care pathways and access to psychological interventions.
  • Support the provision of specialized clinical psychology services to clients, alongside service development and implementation initiatives.
  • Utilize research skills for audits, policy formulation, and service development, demonstrating the impact of the team's work on client outcomes.

Service Details: The Clinical Psychology service for Older People provides specialized support to adults aged 65 and above within the NHS Greater Glasgow & Clyde region. Our mental health services are integrated into Community Mental Health Teams for Older People, with additional services including Liaison Clinical Psychology, Rehabilitation Clinical Psychology, Young Onset Dementia support, Care Home Liaison, and Inpatient Services.

The successful candidate will be part of this esteemed Psychology department, with professional and operational oversight provided by the Older People's Psychology Service and the Psychology Directorate. Reporting will be to a Senior Principal Clinical Psychologist.

Mobility Requirement: The role may necessitate travel across the service area and working from various locations as required.

Diversity Commitment: NHS Greater Glasgow and Clyde is committed to fostering an inclusive workplace and encourages applications from all community sectors. We take pride in our diverse workforce and actively promote a culture of inclusion.
