Job Summary

Mace is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Health and Safety Manager to join our Public Sector & Life Sciences team in Cambridge. As a key member of our health and safety team, you will provide visible leadership and support to a number of projects, ensuring the delivery of our business and health and wellbeing strategy and objectives.

Key Responsibilities
  • Health and Safety Leadership: Provide visible health and safety leadership and direction to projects and teams, ensuring compliance with health and safety legislation and company policies.
  • Project Support: Support the delivery of projects and programmes within the Group Health and Wellbeing delivery plan, ensuring the implementation of health and safety best practices.
  • Health and Safety Coaching: Provide health and safety coaching and advice to Mace managers and project managers to assist them in achieving business objectives.
  • Relationship Building: Create, develop, and maintain internal and external relationships to maximise the impact of expertise and knowledge to influence the quality of decision-making.
  • Contractual and Statutory Requirements: Advise on and interpret project contractual and statutory requirements and obligations to protect project integrity.
  • Health and Safety Management System: Take part in the development of the health, safety, and wellbeing management system, its implementation, and audit.
  • Performance Measurement: Measure and monitor health, safety, and wellbeing performance.
  • Risk Management: Oversee health, safety, and wellbeing risk management, health, safety, and wellbeing incident reporting, and investigation.
  • Emergency Preparedness: Oversee health, safety, and wellbeing emergency preparedness and response.
  • Strategic Initiatives: Assist the Health, Safety, Wellbeing lead with the development of strategic business unit initiatives and support strategic health, safety, and wellbeing risk management.
Requirements
  • Qualifications: NEBOSH National Certificate in Construction Health and Safety, or equivalent as a minimum.
  • Experience: Construction or project management background and a hunger to grow your career and enjoy the opportunities Mace has to offer.
  • Knowledge: Experience and knowledge of health and wellbeing legislation and delivery relevant to their area of work, current health and wellbeing issues, and trends.
  • Skills: Strong commercial acumen, business planning, and budgetary control skills, as well as the ability to coach and develop teams and individuals in developing health and wellbeing competency.
  • Education: Degree or equivalent work experience.
