Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled and motivated Senior Physiotherapy Assistant to join our Integrated Respiratory Team in North East London Foundation Trust (NELFT) in South West Essex.

Main Duties

The successful candidate will be responsible for supporting aspects of service delivery in each area, including COPD Team, Pulmonary Rehabilitation, Home Oxygen Service, Respiratory Virtual Ward, and Breathlessness and Diagnostics service.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Promoting effective self-management of patients following initial assessments.
  • Contributing to patient education and wider holistic support network.
  • Supporting COPD patients and other suitably identified respiratory conditions with assessment and clear lines of escalation to senior staff.
  • Supporting with Oxygen home safety and management of stable oxygen case load with escalation of CBG results.
  • Performing appropriate level of assessment and delivery of Pulmonary Rehabilitation.
  • Supporting the delivery of the Respiratory Virtual Ward (RVW) which supports Admission Avoidance and Early Supported Discharge pathways while being supervised by a senior member of staff.
  • Supporting Breathlessness and Diagnostics service by performing quality FeNo and ARTP accredited Spirometry.
About Us

NELFT places a great deal of importance on new starters being properly welcomed and inducted into the Trust. All new starters will join the Trust on the first Monday of each month and will undertake a comprehensive induction of up to two weeks which will include mandatory training, systems training, and the allocation of equipment.

The induction will be held at our head office in Rainham, Essex. This post will be subject to a probationary period. Internal applicants are exempt from the probationary period (unless you are an internal applicant currently part way through a probationary period or currently a bank member of staff).

Person Specification

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • AP Qualification.
  • NVQ L2 numeracy and literacy and evidence of continued learning.

Desirable qualifications include:

  • ARTP registration.
  • CBG competency.

Essential experience includes:

  • Experience working in the NHS.

Desirable experience includes:

  • Community experience.
  • Acute experience.
  • Rehabilitation experience.
  • Respiratory experience.

We are looking for a candidate with good communication skills, IT skills, and evidence of organisational skills. Evidence of QI is also desirable.
